Through the teaching of proper fundamentals, our instructors will provide an opportunity for baseball and softball players to improve their skills. Get the fundamentals taught early and see the difference in your player’s game!
Baseball
Carey Avants - 3 times First Team All-District 5-5A, District MVP 2001, First Team All-State 2001, Juco All-Star Game 2003, 2005 All Big 12 Team. Carey attended Navarro JC 2001-2003, University of Texas at Arlington 2003-2004 and Texas Tech University 2004-2005.
Jim Chamblee - Jim is a graduate of Denton High School where he lettered in both basketball and baseball. As a shortstop, he helped lead teh Bronco Baseball Team to the Regional Finals back to back seasons in 92' and 93'. Following his high school career, Jim signed with Odessa College on a baseball scholarship and won the starting shortstop job as a freshman. He had a great freshman campaign and followed it up with a stellar sophomore year hitting .425 with 18 homers earning him WJCAC MVP, All Region, All American and JUCO World Series All Tournament Team honors. After the success of his 95' season, Jim signed a letter of intent to play at Texas Tech, but was drafted in the 12th round of the June Amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox. He opted to follow his dream and play professional baseball. Jim played for 10 seasons with 4 different organizations and finally retired in 2004. The highlight of his career was reaching the big leagues in 2003 briefly with the Cincinnati Reds. Over his 10 seasons as a ballplayer, he logged 1,162 games and finished his career with a .264 AVG, 1,046 hits, 131 HR and 560 RBI. Jim resides in Highland Village with his wife and 2 sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, hunting and teaching kids the game he loves.
Danny Frisby - Danny attended University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. He played college ball all four years as a starting pitcher. He received the Heartland Conference First Team Pitcher of the Year. With his hard work and dedication, he was able to coach at UTPB after he was done playing. While coaching, the UTPB baseball team won the Heartland Conference and continued to regionals. He has since graduated with a Kinesiology degree and relocated to Dallas.
Brandon Gowins - Brandon was a three time all district selection at Creekview High School as a pitcher and first baseman. He then went on to play 2 years at Paris Junior College, where he was a 2 year conference starting pitcher. After his 2 years there, he finished his career at Tarleton State. He was a 3 time pitcher of the week, and set school records for fewest walks per nine innings and best strikeout to walk ratio.
Mike McGowan - Mikie was a three time all distric, two time district MVP and two time all state selection at Newman Smith High School as a pitcher and first baseman. After being drafted by the Yankees out of high school, he decided to attend Navarro Junior College for 2 years. He led the Bulldogs to two deep regional runs, as the team ace and DH. He was drafted both years while at Navarro, but went on to further his career at Texas Tech University. While there, he was a weekend starter for the Red Raiders in the Big 12 conference.
Softball
Chelsea Frisby - Chelsea attended Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. She was starting pitcher throughout her whole career. She received First-Team All Conference for Lone Star South two years in a row. She also went with her team to the Division II World Series in 2009 and 2010. She finished fourth in 2009 and third in 2010. She was named Daktronics 2nd Team All American in 2009 and 2010. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She started her college career at Midland College in which she received All-Conference Pitcher of the Year for 2006 and 2007. She redshirted for the year of 2008. Chelsea has been giving pitching lessons and working pitching camps for five years around Texas. She is a Marcus High School graduate.
Jenny Moore - Jenny is a Southlake Carroll graduate, all-district and all-region basketball player (no softball way back then!). She graduated Texas Tech University, majoring in advertising and marketing. She has coached fastpitch softball for 15 years, t-ball through 18/u Gold, and has been a private hitting instructor for the last 3 years. Jenny is married with 2 children - Abby, a freshman softball player at Arkansas Tech University; and Jake, a sophomore baseball player at Grapevine High School.
